Motorsport journalist and photographer Fred Prysquel lived in Saint Tropez and enjoyed the comforts of this sun-drenched seaside town. As a person who thinks in pictures, he suddenly had the idea for a humorous, casual pair of leisure shorts for men, and turned this vision into a brilliant reality in 1971. The Vilebrequin success story began from a pattern cut from a tablecloth, and culminated in the design of casual swim shorts for men.

Humorous designs for men

The design of Vilebrequin's swim shorts will put a cheerful grin on anyone's face. The design team transports innocent childlike motifs into the adult world. Turtles, penguins, or polar bears pop up in appealing little pictures and in very accurate color prints on these casual textiles for adults. Nowadays, this men's fashion is at home all over the world.

Even though the motifs have a large following, the label invents new imaginative designs every season. This year, the designers have taken inspiration from 20th century painters such as Matisse and Miró.
