mey
The German underwear specialist mey focuses on tailored quality underwear to feel good with a sporty touch for him and her. The family-owned company from Albstadt in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, has been designing the finest underwear from the most exquisite fabrics since 1948. Fashion trends and traditions as well as great comfort play a central role in the entire production process.
Lingerie from mey with sensuality factor
Franz and Karl Mey founded their eponymous company Gebrüder mey OHG in 1948. Initially, the company produced ready-to-wear clothing of all kinds. In 1959, the second generation of the family began to specialize in women's lingerie, which led to the strategically sensible expansion of the technical facilities. The objective was clear: to produce German quality underwear, using state-of-the-art materials. From 1962 onwards, all collections were offered under the umbrella brand mey in coordination with the specialist retail trade. A continuous innovation process began in 1973 with the development of the “Only Lycra” series, which consisted of a cotton/lycra fiber mix made of core yarn for a perfect fit. This was followed by groundbreaking material developments, numerous patent applications, and pioneering manufacturing methods. This included the development of super-flat, non-pinching seam finishes and the introduction of “Noblesse,” a super-combed, ultra-fine cotton yarn for optimum shape retention. The production of men’s underwear finally started in 1984 and in 2002 a nightwear line was added to the product range. Innovative strength and technical expertise paid off. The launch of the “Sports” line in 2004 was a logical step and won an award in 2006.
“Made by mey with love” – this is the motto of the collections. They are sporty and straightforward, with perfect workmanship down to the smallest detail. Women’s bodysuits, push-up bras, tank tops, briefs and yoga pants feature figure-flattering slim-fit effects. They are now also partly produced in fruity-fresh trend colors from lime green to aqua and fuchsia. The day and nightwear are otherwise in understated colors such as soft skin or champagne. Floral prints and stripe designs provide delicate accents. In the men’s line, briefs, pajama pants and nightwear are mostly in subdued, darker colors and feature subtle check and stripe patterns.
mey: True beauty comes from within
The lingerie producer has become one of the most popular brands in lingerie and in the day and nightwear segment. Thanks to a successful expansion policy, the brand also enjoys a high level of international recognition. This is ensured by modern, attention-grabbing advertising campaigns, original as well as witty brand slogans and snazzy lingerie shows, which were effectively staged with celebrities. Cosma Shiva Hagen, Uschi Obermaier and Frank Schätzing, among others, have already been photographed by star photographer Gabo for print campaigns.
85 percent of all fabrics are currently produced at the company’s headquarters in the Swabian Alb, Germany, and further processing also takes place mainly at the company's own plants in Europe. This is the only way to ensure frequent quality inspections and a functioning logistical coordination. Conscientious action in compliance with the highest ecological standards and the assumption of social responsibility are essential criteria of the clearly regulated company philosophy. Recent product placements with the trustworthy “bluesign” environmental seal also prove that sensual lingerie and sophisticated, body-shaping fashion with pizzazz can indeed be produced with environmentally friendly production and the careful use of resources.
